Where Clean Living Meets Everyday Comfort

ApotheKari Market + Kitchen was founded by sisters Kari Miller and Kasey Schwartz, but its story began long before there was ever a storefront.

We were born and raised in West Virginia, in a home where the kitchen was truly the heart of everything. Our mom, who we lost nearly 25 years ago, was the kind of cook who didn’t need recipes written down. She learned from her own mother and sister, and together the women in our family carried forward a tradition of country cooking rooted in West Virginia and Kentucky heritage. Holidays weren’t just dates on a calendar, they were gatherings around a full table, recipes made from memory, stories shared between bites, and the comfort of being together.

Our dad brought another layer to that foundation. He grew up working in his family’s restaurant in Connecticut, where food meant hospitality, hard work, and pride. Summers spent on his grandparents’ farm in Kentucky shaped his love for honest, home-cooked meals shared daily around a well-worn table.

Between the restaurant kitchen, the farmhouse table, and the women who cooked before us, we inherited more than recipes — we inherited a way of caring for people.

Between those two influences, we learned something early:
Food brings people together.
Home should feel welcoming.
And caring for others is one of the most important things you can do.

In 1999, we moved to Carlinville, Illinois. What started as a new chapter quickly became home. We built our families here. We built friendships here. We built our lives here. This small Midwest town shaped us just as much as where we came from.

Years later, our individual paths naturally came back together.

Kari Miller and Kasey Schwartz

Meet Kari…

Kari has been a nurse for more than 17 years. Caring for people isn’t just her profession — it’s who she is. Over time, that same heart for care extended into her home, where she became passionate about green living, wellness, and creating a healthier environment for her family and became a certified herbalist along the way.

In October 2025, she opened ApotheKari Market, a refillery focused on low-waste, refillable essentials and intentional home care. For Kari, clean living isn’t about being perfect — it’s about making thoughtful choices that support your family and your community.

She’s also the proud mom of Lyric and Lilly, and believes that caring for your home is one of the quietest and most powerful ways to care for the people inside it.

Meet Kasey…

Kasey’s path led back to the kitchen.

In 2009, she started All Things Mamma as a way to share the simple, comforting recipes she grew up with. What began as a small blog turned into a nationally recognized brand reaching millions each month — but its heart has never changed. It’s still about easy meals, real kitchens, and gathering around the table.

Before building her online business, Kasey served as Executive Director of the Carlinville Chamber of Commerce, where she discovered a deep love for small businesses and community growth. Bringing All Things Mamma Kitchen into a physical space in Carlinville — more than 20 years after first moving here — has been something she’s dreamed about for a long time.

Because for her, food has always been about connection.

Kasey is wife to her husband, Brian, for over 20 years and mom to Ella, Andrew, and Sydney.

Bringing It All Together

At some point, we realized something that felt natural:

The products you use in your home and the food you serve at your table belong in the same space.

Clean living and comfort cooking are not opposites — they support one another.

ApotheKari Market + Kitchen now brings together:

  • Kari’s refillery and passion for wellness
  • All Things Mamma Kitchen and its focus on gathering and everyday cooking
  • Midwest pantry goods and local makers
  • Kitchen tools chosen for real life
  • Community classes, demonstrations, and events

This space reflects who we are and where we came from.

It reflects West Virginia roots and Midwest hospitality.
It reflects restaurant grit and country cooking.
It reflects caring for people — in the hospital, in the home, and around the table.

More Than a Store

ApotheKari Market + Kitchen is more than retail.

It’s coming home.
It’s honoring our parents’ legacy.
It’s creating a space where community feels tangible.

All Things Mamma continues to thrive online, but here in Carlinville, it becomes something you can walk into — something you can touch, taste, and experience.

Clean living meets everyday comfort.

And we’re so grateful to build it right here, where our story continues.
